St. Helens Lions Boys Soccer 1-7 Putnam

Putnam handed St. Helens a 7-1 defeat in Northwest Oregon Conference (5A) boys soccer on Tuesday evening at St. Helens, Oregon, as the Lions struggled to find their footing in a lopsided home loss. The Kingsmen controlled the match from early on, building a commanding advantage that St. Helens could not overcome despite a lone goal that offered a brief moment of brightness for the home crowd. The Lions fell to 0-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play with the result, continuing a difficult stretch in a season that has presented consistent challenges. Putnam's ability to generate sustained offensive pressure proved to be the difference, keeping the St. Helens defense working throughout the evening. The Lions will need to regroup quickly and look to build on any positives from their lone tally as they prepare for their next opportunity. St. Helens will look to pick up their first win when they return to action later this week.
