Franklin Lightning Football 20-50 Ida B. Wells

Ida B. Wells handed Franklin a lopsided 50-20 defeat Thursday night in a PIL (6A) league football game played in Portland, Oregon, snapping the Quakers' three-game winning streak and handing them their second loss of the season. Franklin entered the night at 5-1 and was looking to strengthen its conference standing, but the Bruins proved too much to handle from start to finish, pulling away for a 30-point victory that was not as close as the final score might suggest. The loss drops Franklin to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in league play, keeping the Quakers on the fringe of the PIL playoff picture with several key conference matchups still remaining. Despite the difficult result, Franklin still controls its own destiny in the standings, and a strong finish to the regular season could keep postseason hopes very much alive. The Quakers will look to bounce back quickly when they return to action next week.
