Catlin Gabel handed Valley Catholic a 7-0 defeat Tuesday in a non-league girls soccer match, snapping the Vanguards' early-season momentum. Valley Catholic, based in Beaverton, Oregon and competing in the Lewis & Clark League (3A), dropped to 1-1 on the young season after the road loss at Catlin Gabel. The Eagles were dominant from the opening whistle, pouring in seven goals against a Vanguard squad that had opened the year with a promising victory. Playing away from home against a program outside their league provided a stiff early-season test, and Catlin Gabel proved too much to handle on this occasion. While the margin was difficult, road non-league matchups against strong opponents can serve as valuable film and motivation heading into league play.
