Valley Catholic made a statement Tuesday, blanking Scappoose 3-0 in a 4A-1 Cowapa League boys soccer match at home in Beaverton, Oregon. The Vanguards controlled the contest from start to finish, holding Scappoose scoreless through 80 minutes to earn a clean sheet and push their conference record to 5-1. Valley Catholic improves to 10-1-1 overall with the victory, continuing a strong stretch of play that has positioned the Vanguards as one of the more dangerous teams in the Cowapa League heading into the final weeks of the regular season. The three-goal output against a competitive Scappoose side reflects a balanced offensive effort, while the shutout speaks to a defense that has been difficult to crack all fall.
