Roosevelt Roughriders Boys Soccer 2-1 Benson

A hard-fought road result lifted Roosevelt boys soccer to a 2-1 victory over Benson on Monday, October 5, in Portland, Oregon, inside the Portland Interscholastic League (6A). The Roughriders picked up their second win of the season, improving to 2-8-1 overall and 1-1 in league play, with the result serving as an important step forward after a difficult stretch earlier in the year. Playing away from home, Roosevelt found a way to generate enough offense to support a two-goal effort while holding Benson to a single score, a formula that will need to carry over into future matchups if the Roughriders hope to build momentum down the stretch. The one-goal margin kept things tight until the final whistle, and the team's ability to close out a close contest on the road speaks to the character of this group. Roosevelt will look to string together consecutive league wins and find consistency as the back half of the 6A schedule approaches.
