Riverdale Mavericks Boys Soccer 3-2 Clatskanie / Rainier

A hard-fought 3-2 victory gave Riverdale boys soccer a much-needed boost Monday evening in Portland, Oregon, as the Coastal Range League (3A) Hawks knocked off Clatskanie/Rainier in non-league play at home. The win evens Riverdale's overall record at 5-5 on the season, a welcome turnaround after the team entered the match sitting at 4-5. With their conference mark standing at 0-1, the Hawks know league play will demand their best, but Monday's result offers a confidence boost heading into that stretch. Riverdale controlled enough of the match to build a lead, then held on as Clatskanie/Rainier pulled within one before the final whistle. The two-goal margin at times felt tighter than the scoreline suggested, a reminder that nothing comes easy this deep into a competitive fall schedule. The Hawks will look to carry this momentum forward as league competition heats up and every result becomes critical to their postseason standing.
