Mountainside Mavericks Girls Soccer 2-1 Sunset

A second goal made the difference Monday as Mountainside girls soccer held off Sunset 2-1 at home in Beaverton, Oregon, moving the Mavericks to 7-3-3 on the season in 6A-2 Metro League play. The narrow victory kept Mountainside in the hunt for a stronger league finish, pushing their conference record to 2-1 with the win over a Sunset squad that made things uncomfortable late. Sunset pulled within one, but Mountainside's defense held firm to protect the lead and secure all three points. The result rewards a team that entered the match at 6-3-3, a balanced squad with the kind of depth that can grind out close results when the scoring doesn't come easy. With the Metro League race tightening as October winds down, every home win carries added weight. Mountainside will look to build on this momentum and string together results in the final stretch of the regular season.
