Mountainside Mavericks Football 12-31 Jesuit

Jesuit handed Mountainside a 31-12 defeat Friday night in a Metro League (6A) football game played in Portland, dropping the Mavericks from Beaverton, Oregon to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Crusaders controlled much of the contest, building a lead that Mountainside could not overcome despite a pair of scores on the night. Playing on the road against one of the Metro League's perennial powers, the Mavericks faced a stiff challenge and the final margin reflected Jesuit's depth and experience at this stage of the season. Mountainside's two touchdowns showed some offensive life, but the defense struggled to slow a Jesuit attack that found consistent success throughout the game. With the regular season winding down and conference standings tightening, the Mavericks will need to regroup quickly. Mountainside returns home next week looking to snap a difficult stretch and salvage its league standing before the postseason picture comes into full focus.
