Milwaukie Mustangs Softball 4-7 Liberty
The bats came alive early at Milwaukie High on Friday afternoon, but it was visiting Liberty that did most of the damage in a 7-4 softball victory over the Mustangs. The season-opening non-league clash saw both teams shake off some early-spring rust while getting their first taste of competitive action.
Liberty jumped ahead with consistent offensive pressure throughout the contest, building enough of a cushion to withstand Milwaukie's late-game rally attempts. The Mustangs showed flashes of the potential that could serve them well as league play approaches, managing four runs against a solid Liberty pitching staff.
While the home opener didn't deliver the result Milwaukie was hoping for, the early-season matchup provided valuable experience against quality competition. Coach staff will have plenty to work with as they prepare the team for the challenges ahead.
The Mustangs will look to even their record when they return to action next week. With a full season of league games on the horizon, this opening setback serves as motivation rather than discouragement.
