Grant Generals Girls Volleyball 1-2 St. Mary's Acad.

St. Mary's Academy edged the Grant Generals 2-1 in a Saturday girls volleyball non-league match, handing Portland's Portland Interscholastic League (6A) program its third loss of the fall season. The Generals came in riding a strong wave of momentum, having built a 15-2 record through the early weeks of the campaign, but the road environment at St. Mary's proved a tough obstacle to overcome. Grant kept it competitive, forcing a three-set affair rather than folding early, which speaks to the grit this group has shown all season. Dropping a close set-by-set battle is never easy, but there are lessons to take from competing hard against a quality opponent outside the league slate. The Generals now stand at 15-3 and will look to bounce back quickly as PIL play heats up in the coming weeks. How Grant responds to adversity will be a key storyline to watch as the postseason picture begins to take shape.
