Glencoe Crimson Tide Boys Soccer 2-1 Newberg

A second-half finish held up Monday as Glencoe boys soccer defeated Newberg 2-1 on the road, giving the Hillsboro, Oregon program a hard-earned Pacific Conference (6A) victory. The Crimson Tide improved to 5-4-2 overall and 1-1 in league play with the result, bouncing back after dropping their conference opener and reestablishing themselves as a factor in the standings.
Playing away from home is never easy in league play, and Newberg made it a contest until the final whistle. Glencoe's two-goal effort proved just enough to withstand a Tigers rally, as Newberg pulled within one before the Tide buckled down and protected the slim margin through the closing minutes.
The win carries real weight at this point in the season. With the second half of league play approaching, Glencoe now sits at .500 in conference and has the momentum of a road result to build on. The Tide return to action later this week with a chance to push above the .500 mark in league standings.
