Forest Grove Vikings Girls Soccer 1-2 Sherwood

Sherwood edged Forest Grove 2-1 on Thursday in a Pacific Conference (6A) girls soccer matchup, handing the Vikings a road loss that tightens their grip on a conference playoff spot. The Forest Grove, Oregon-based program made the trip to Sherwood looking to build momentum, but the host Bowmen proved too difficult to contain on their home pitch. Forest Grove managed to find the back of the net once, keeping themselves in the contest, but Sherwood's two-goal effort was ultimately enough to secure the victory. The loss drops the Vikings to 6-5-1 overall and 1-2 in Pacific Conference play, leaving them with work to do in the standings as the league schedule heads toward its final stretch. Forest Grove will need to regroup quickly and put together a strong run of conference results to stay in contention. The Vikings return to action next week with every remaining league game carrying added weight in the Pacific Conference standings.
