Canby Cougars Boys Soccer 1-2 La Salle Prep

La Salle Prep edged Canby 2-1 in a boys soccer league matchup Tuesday night, handing the Cougars from Canby, Oregon, their first road loss in 5A-2 Greater Metro Conference play this fall. The result drops Canby to 9-3-1 overall and 3-1 in conference, keeping the Cougars in the thick of the league race but giving La Salle Prep a significant edge in the standings. Playing away from home against a quality Falcon side, Canby managed to put one on the board but could not find the equalizer in the final stages. The Cougars came into the night having won nine of their previous twelve matches, so the defeat stings but does little to diminish what has been a strong season. Canby will need to regroup quickly with the postseason picture beginning to sharpen. How the Cougars respond in their remaining league contests will go a long way toward determining their playoff seeding and positioning heading into the 5A bracket.
