Sam Barlow Bruins Football 21-48 Sandy

Sandy handed the Barlow Bruins a 48-21 defeat in Friday night's football season opener, played at Barlow High School in Gresham, Oregon, home of the Mt. Hood Conference (6A) program. The Bruins dropped to 0-1 on the young season after the non-league contest against the Pioneers. Sandy came out of the gate with purpose, building a lead that Barlow was unable to overcome despite finding the end zone three times on the evening. The 27-point margin reflects a Sandy squad that showed up ready to play from the opening kickoff. For the Bruins, the loss stings, but a non-league opener against a physical opponent can offer valuable lessons heading into conference play. First-year or returning players alike now have real game experience to build from, and the coaching staff will have plenty of film to work with this week. Barlow looks to bounce back when they return to action next Friday.
